Trivia bingo: five in a row wins

Every player gets a five-by-five card of trivia questions on their phone. Get one right and the square is yours. First to a line wins the round — and a bonus.

How it plays

A round of 321Bingo

1. Cards are dealt

Each player’s phone shows a five-by-five card of questions drawn from the categories the host chose — or the whole library. The middle square is free.

2. A question is called

The TV shows the category of each square and the host (or the game, in Auto Host) calls questions; players answer on their phones against the timer.

3. Right answers claim squares

A correct answer marks the square. A wrong one leaves it open, so the card tells the story of the round.

4. Five in a row wins

The first player to complete a line calls bingo; the TV confirms the winner and awards the round bonus.

Why bars run it

Bingo with brains

Bar bingo already works: it is easy to join, it moves quickly, and the whole room is in it until somebody wins. Trivia bingo keeps all of that and adds the thing bingo is missing — a reason to talk at the table. Every square is a question, so a team argues over the answer instead of waiting for a number.

It is also forgiving. A team that is poor at sport can still fill a line with movies and food, and a round ends in minutes, so nobody is stuck watching a runaway leader. Hosts use it to change the pace after a couple of standard rounds, or as the whole format for a lighter weeknight. In a digital bar trivia night it needs nothing extra — no cards, no daubers, no caller’s cage.

For hosts

Setting up a bingo round

  • Pick the categories the cards are dealt from, or leave it open to the whole library. A themed night can deal a themed card.
  • Set the bonus for the winning line on the plans that allow it.
  • Mix it in. A bingo round sits alongside standard rounds with Power-ups, a 321Grid board round, or the Redemption and Underdog challenges — see every game mode.
  • Runs itself if you like. In Auto Host, the game calls the questions and confirms the winner.

Questions

Trivia bingo FAQ

What is trivia bingo?+

A bingo card where every square is a trivia question instead of a number. Answer a question right and the square is yours; the first to complete a line — five in a row — wins the round. 321Bingo is 321Trivia’s version, played from phones with the card on each player’s screen.

How does a 321Bingo round fit into a trivia night?+

It is a special round you add to an ordinary game. Hosts often use it to change the pace after a couple of standard rounds, or as the whole format for a lighter night.

Do players need an app or a paper card?+

Neither. The card is on the player’s phone in their browser, the same way they join any 321Trivia game — scan the QR code on the TV or type the game code.

Which plans include 321Bingo?+

Bingo rounds come with the paid host plans; the Free Host Demo runs standard live and Auto Host games. Details are on the pricing page.
